Bower to speak of endangered birds in Chile during noon event today on campus

John Bower, a faculty member in Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, will talk of his studies of endangered hummingbird and seabird populations on Chile's Isla Robinson Crusoe at noon today in College Hall Room 131.

His presentation, “Hummingbirds, Seabirds and Tsunamis: Island Conservation & Village Life on Isla Robinson Crusoe, Chile,” will touch on the devastation wrought by the February 2010 tsunami that wiped out almost half of the island’s only village. Bower also will talk about the rebuilding effort currently under way.

This presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of the International Lecture Series from the Center for International Studies. For more information, visit http://www.wwu.edu/international.
