The Western Associated Students Bookstore will celebrate the second annual National Student Day on Thursday, Oct. 4, with a food drive and a drawing for gift certificates. The Center for Service-Learning will be on hand to talk with students about how and where to volunteer.

National Student Day is about celebrating social responsibility among college students. Students can share their community support experiences on the NSD website and will have a chance to win prizes, including iPads and scholarships.

National Student Day also is a day where college bookstores can join with campus and community organizations celebrating and supporting student volunteer efforts. The Western AS Bookstore is gathering campus departments and organizations to provide information about volunteer opportunities and ways students can give back to their community.

Western's event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, in the bookstore.
