Banner 9 Campus-Wide Rollout on October 23rd, 2018 Tuesday

As many of you are aware, our current Banner system, which we have used at Western since the mid-1990s, must be upgraded to the latest version – version 9 (B9) by October 2018. This deadline is crucial: If the upgrade were not completed on time, regulatory filings such as W-2, 1099 and Pell Grant reporting would not be available to campus users. This upgrade process now is close to completion.

On October 23, 2018, Banner 9 Admin Pages (INB forms in the current Banner 8) will be rolled out to all existing active Banner users.  A link to the Banner 9 system will be available through MyWestern, and additional information regarding access will be communicated within the next two weeks. If you are currently performing Banner activities in Web4U, you will continue to do so without any changes. This upgrade is only for Banner Admin Pages (INB forms), there is no change to Web4U at this time.

Campus-wide Banner 9 Open House drop-in navigation training will start the week of September 17th, 2018. Supervisors can determine if student employees will attend these sessions or individual offices can provide their own internal training per their student work schedules.  Training materials including short videos for general navigation and most used functions, as well as quick reference guides and shortcut key cheat sheets will also be available. Detailed training schedules will be published this week.

Registration for these sessions can be done through the PageUp Learning Management system, however walk-ins are certainly welcome.

A special thank you to our Steering Committee, Divisional Leads and the entire Banner 9 project team. It is with all of your support, collaboration and hard work that allows us to meet this October deadline!

If you have any questions about this roll-out, please contact Chuck Lanham, Vice Provost for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer at 360-650-4476.
