Assistant Director for Multicultural Student Engagement Campus Open Sessions Announced

The Viking Union Organization and the search committee for the Assistant Director for Multicultural Student Engagement has identified finalists for the position and invites you to interact with them on these days:

Wednesday, May 12 : Cedric Bolton, M.Ed
Friday, May 14: Adekunbi Ajiboye, Ed.D
Wednesday, May 19: Lateasha Meyers, PhD
Friday, May 21: Melissa Uyesugi, M.Ed

There will be two Open Forum zoom sessions: one with a professional staff focus (from 11:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.) and another centering on student voices (1-2 p.m. or1:30-2:30 p.m.). Although each meeting time has a different focus, the presentation will be the same. Please feel free to join any session that fits your schedule (see contact info below).

The Assistant Director for Multicultural Student Engagement is responsible for providing program management, advisement, and professional expertise in these areas within the Associated Students/Viking Union. Examples of these duties include:

  • Develop and lead programming which centers racial and ethnic identities, experiences, and histories, marginalized and intersecting identities (examples may include gender identity, sexual identity, ability, current immigration standing, Veterans identity, and socioeconomic status)
  • Supervision of Ethnic Student Center and Student Advocacy & Identity Resource Centers Professional Staff
  • Collaboration with Associated Students, Housing & Residence Life, Multicultural Student Services colleagues (LGBTQ+ Western, WWU Tribal Liaison, Men’s Resiliency Program, and Western Success Scholars Program)
