Anthony Shull New Senior Director for Language & Cultural Programs at Extended Education

Anthony Shull has been selected as the new senior director for Language and Cultural Programs in Extended Education at Western Washington University.

Language and Cultural Programs (LCP) offers a variety of English language programs for learners of all ages and levels, including the Asia University America, Intensive English, International Youth and Custom Language and Culture programs.

“We are delighted to welcome Anthony Shull to the Extended Education team. Our Language and Cultural Programs unit has made great strides during the past few years, revamping curriculum and achieving the much coveted Commission on English Language Accreditation. LCP’s future potential is great, and Anthony is exactly the sort of highly organized and entrepreneurial leader who can help the group move to the next level,’ said Earl Gibbons, vice provost for Extended Education at Western.

Shull joined Western on July 2, 2018.

“I am very excited to join Extended Education at Western and to lead such a talented and dedicated group of individuals in Language and Culture Programs. Customized international language and culture programs for youth and adults directly support the university’s internationalization mission while contributing to the institution’s portfolio of competitive offering of unique programming,” Shull said. “The team and I look forward to intensifying our efforts in partnering with students, faculty, staff and administration across the university as well as in the local and international community.”

Shull has a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and a bachelor’s degree in Business and Merchandising, both from the University of Central Missouri.

Shull most recently served as chair of International Programs and executive director for Global Initiatives, Division of Enrollment Management, at Marian University in Indianapolis.

He also served as international coordinator, director of the Office of Global Programs, and executive director for International Affairs, all at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. In addition, he was a professor of English/Marketing, director of the Department of Languages, and coordinator of English Learning Programs and Extended Learning at Tec de Monterrey, RZC Rectoria Zona Centro, Mexico.

Shull has made numerous professional presentations and received awards and recognitions in his field, including the 2013-2014 IIE Presidential Fellows Award. He has traveled to many countries.
