All students are invited to ‘Sandwiches with Sabah’ May 9

All students are invited to ‘Sandwiches with Sabah’ in the VU’s Underground Coffeehouse from noon to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9.

President Sabah and Melynda Huskey, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services invite all students to join them for sandwiches, cookies, and conversation about how Western’s goals and aspirations for the future align with their own.  The goals come from the University’s recently approved strategic plan, which was developed over an 18 month period by a committee composed of students, faculty, staff, and included an extensive input and feedback process for all groups.

Goal #1: Western will provide a transformational education grounded in the liberal arts and sciences and based on innovative scholarship, research, and creative activity.

Goal #2: Western will advance a deeper understanding of and engagement with place.

Goal #3: Western will foster a caring and supportive environment where all members are respected and treated fairly.

Goal #4: Western will pursue justice and equity in its policies, practices, and impacts.

Themes:

Questions for students to consider:

  1. Do these goals and themes resonate with you as a student?  What do they mean to you?  Are your hopes and aspirations reflected in them?
  2. Where do you think Western will have to put in the most work to achieve these goals?
  3. What kinds of changes would you like to see the plan make at Western for students and the student experience?
