After injury, a reminder about sign placement on campus
In the wake of a recent trip/fall injury on campus, the Environmental Health and Safety Office reminds the campus community of concerns regarding the use of outdoor signs and sandwich boards. Please remember:
- If you place signs, maintain them regularly and remove them when the need for them is over. The recent injury was due to a sign that had been left out, was no longer in use, and had blown down or been knocked over.
- Place signs to the side of the main pathway so as not to impede pedestrian traffic flow.
- Be aware of how your sign might impact a sight-impaired person’s travel on the pathway.
- Use sand bags or signs with weighted bottoms to avoid having them blown over.
