After governor bans Indiana travel, WWU administration amends policy

Rich Van Den Hul, vice president for Business and Financial Affairs at Western Washington University, issued the following statement to WWU faculty and staff on Tuesday:

On Monday, March 30, Governor Jay Inslee issued an executive order placing a ban on travel to Indiana.  Following the Governor's lead, Western Washington University's administration has issued an addendum to our travel policies. Until future notice, no travel to Indiana, regardless of funding source, will be authorized. This application is not retroactive; that is, previous travel authorizations will not be revoked. Exceptions to the WWU ban are not expected and would require approval at the vice presidential level.

Governor Inslee imposed the ban on state-funded travel to Indiana after the passage of a new law in that state that has the potential for discrimination. This link provides additional information on the Governor's travel ban.
