Accounting majors: time to make important internship and career decisions

The academic year at Western Washington University may have started less than a month ago, but for Accounting majors, September and October are months where decisions regarding internship and career opportunities are made.  In the space of a month and a half, 15 local, regional and global accounting firms will visit campus to host information tables, organize social networking events, and conduct interviews on campus.

Last year, almost 200 students participated in interviews and received resume help at a “resume clinic” hosted by representatives from the Career Services Center.  As part of Accounting Recruitment Season, several annual events occur such as “Meet the Professionals Night,” which was hosted by WWU Beta Alpha Psi  (www.wwubap.org) in September at the Crown Plaza Hotel and provided an opportunity for Accounting students from 11 universities and representatives from over 20 firms to meet and build relationships in a professional setting.

Campus interviews with firm representatives began this week, and will continue through October 21, with many students participating in multiple interviews for opportunities during this academic year and beyond.
