American Museum of Radio and Electricity, WWU to present multimedia lecture on radio's history May 15

The American Museum of Radio and Electricity and Western Washington University's College of Sciences and Technology will present "The ROOTS OF RADIO," the third in a series of multi-media presentations by author John Jenkins and musuem president, at 7 p.m. May 15.

In "The ROOTS OF RADIO," Jenkins will recount the many fascinating inventions and surprising events that led to the discovery and manipulation of radio waves, one of the greatest achievements in science and communications history.

Jenkins will include still photos, and perform live demonstrations highlighting several rare and authentic experimental devices from the Museum's collection. Demonstrations will range from the discovery of electromagnetism to proving the existence of radio waves by Heinrich Hertz in 1887.

"There's nothing like seeing these historic experiments performed on early instruments," says Jenkins. "It really makes these discoveries come alive."

Admission is $7 for the general public. The cost for students is $3, and museum members get in free.
