A few chilly days ahead for Miller Hall offices

Monday, Feb. 22 at 8 a.m. when the steam line feeding MH will be shut down. Following the shutdown and cooling of the line, a section of the steam line will be removed and a new rerouted section will be installed. During the shutdown, Dawson Construction will provide some temporary heat in the hallways, as weather demands. All occupants are requested to dress warmly and keep their doors open during the shutdown to enhance air/heat flow.

Temporary domestic hot water heaters have been installed to maintain hot water  to kitchens, restrooms and custodial sinks during the shutdown. The line is scheduled to be reactivated on Thursday Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.

Asbestos abatement at the north ramp, in the former quarters of ATUS, and the crawl space beneath is complete. Air samples have been taken, analyzed, and approved. Demolition continues at the north ramp and in the former quarters of ATUS. Crews are working a swing shift in this area during noisy, dusty, concrete demolition to minimize impacts to occupants. Work begins at 3:30 pm.

If work proceeds as expected, the first precast concrete stairs sections of the south stair tower will be delivered and installed in mid March. This will require additional mobile cranes on site and may impact traffic flow. As the delivery date nears you will receive further details in order to minimize impacts to your daily routine.
