Feb. 5 info session to explain summer course in rural Kenya

Western Washington University and the Center for Service-Learning are offering a course on rural Kenya this summer. The class, “Kenya: Field Studies and Collaborative International Service-Learning,” will be held during the nine-week Summer Session, with five weeks on the ground in Kenya, from July 5 to Aug. 12.

An information session will be held at noon Feb. 5 in College Hall Room 131 to present details of the program.

This faculty-led international program is in partnership with community-based organizations and schools in Kenya. Participation in the program will give students the opportunity to learn about the culture, politics and issues facing rural Kenya from and with local experts. Students will also deepen their understanding of their own majors through the development of an individualized study project that includes meaningful service.
