Today: 'Auction Block to Hip Hop' theater production

The "Auction Block to Hip Hop" production takes place at 7 p.m. today, Nov. 23, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. The event costs $5 for general admission and $2 for WWU students with ID.

"Auction Block to Hip Hop" is a theater production about a big Hip Hop mogul named Set Fo' Life. He is at a big award show where he wins awards for his hit record "Pimpin' ain't easy," and on that night he is visited by three ghosts who take him back to the time of his great-great-great grandfather and grandmother, who are leading a slave revolt.

He gets taken to the time when his mother and father fell in love as black panthers, and he sees himself fall in love with his girlfriend at an anti-aparteid protest. He soon finds himself at a crossroads where he has to choose whether or not to buy into the system that degrades black women and perpetuates black stereotypes or choose to be on the outside and fight the power.
