380 employees registered smart transportation trips during October campaign

More than 380 Western Washington University employees chose an alternative to driving alone at least six days in the month of October during the statewide Wheel Options campaign.

Those 380 employees succeeded in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 100,000 pounds.

Each employee who participated in Wheel Options will receive a free companion-fare coupon for the Amtrak Cascades. Western employee Susan Frisbie won a weekend getaway to Victoria B.C. on the Victoria Clipper and Western employee Nancy Phillips received a gift card during the first weekly drawing of the campaign.

Western Employees Diane Fuller, Ira Hyman, Kate Kairoff, and Melinda Assink received REI gift cards in the Western-only prize drawing.

Those who walk, bike, bus or carpool to work at Western are encouraged to log their trips at www.whatcomsmarttrips.org.
