New WWU license plates now available

The long anticipated new Western Washington University-branded license plate is now available through the Washington State Department of Licensing.

The release of the new plate has been two years in the making and after a lengthy review process – including a redesign to accommodate new traffic cameras– the DOL has given the final approval for the public to purchase the new WWU Viking-branded solid blue plate with green lettering.

Plate fees vary depending on the vehicle and $28 of every plate purchase is given back to Western and distributed through the WWU Alumni Association for scholarships.

The Western License Plate can be purchased by completing The Special License Plate Application found on the DOL website and taking it to any local DOL office or by mailing it to: Vehicle Licensing, P.O. Box 9909 Olympia, WA. 98507-8500.

This specialty plate is mailed within two business days of the purchase and is available for anyone who may be interested. Western encourages the public to support Western scholarships by putting Viking pride on their ride.
