New announcement channel to appear on myWestern spring quarter

A new announcement channel will be available spring quarter on myWestern, Western Washington University's intranet portal.

Two features make this new channel more user friendly than the site's current announcement channels:

• Each announcement will be listed under a specific topic, allowing users to scan for the topics they're most interested in.
• Except for official communication channels (Employee Announcements, Student Announcements, etc.), users will be able to disable announcements in topic areas that aren't appealing to them.

The new feature also allows more flexibility in display styles and associated links.

Once the new channel is in place, a more detailed announcement will be provided showing users how to manage topics and how to submit an announcement for publication.
