Nancy Pearl to join Poulsbo book group Feb. 17

Western Washington University will offer its first Local Literature Book Group this winter and features the books, insights, and selections of Nancy Pearl – best-selling author, librarian, radio commentator, and winner of the Women’s National Book Association Award.

Held at Olympic College’s Poulsbo campus, the book group is open to the public and meets four Tuesdays beginning Jan. 27. The cost is $25, and participants are advised to register early to secure enrollment in the group.

Participants will read and discuss Nancy’s book series, which includes Book Lust, explore why we love books, learn to read at a deeper level and have the opportunity to meet the author, who will join the group on the last evening of the session.

A variety of featured guests will join the group each week to share their expertise on literature and reading, including a local college literature instructor, librarians, and a reading specialist.

Participants may also register for Nancy’s public lecture titled “The Pleasures and Perils of a Life of Reading,” in which she shares her evolution from reader to librarian to author. The lecture will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Poulsbo Middle School Auditorium; cost is $10.
