More than 2,550 freshmen to visit campus in August

Summerstart, Western Washington University's annual advising, registration and orientation program for new first-year students, will be held Aug. 5 to 22 on campus.

More than 2,550 freshmen and their families are registered to attend.

Participants register for one of eight two-day session blocks. Each two-day session features academic advising and support, class registration, informative workshops and peer-led orientation sessions about Western and campus life.

An extensive information fair for students and families to become more familiar with Western’s services and resources will be held in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

Check-in for Summerstart will occur in the parking lot adjacent to Higginson Hall (Lot 5G) from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19 and 21. Traffic entering those parking areas may be more congested than usual.

The New Student Services / Family Outreach Office thanks Western faculty, staff and students in advance for their patience as new students and family members arrive in the morning and are directed to their parking areas for check-in.

Please contact NSS/FO for more information at 360-650-3846.
