May 7 event to provide translingual approach to dealing with errors in student writing

Two professors from the University of Louisville will be on the Western Washington University campus May 7 to lead a discussion titled "A Translingual Approach to Error in Student Writing."

The two-hour discussion and working session will be led by Bruce Horner, endowed chair of rhetoric and composition, and Min Zhan Lu, professor of English and a university scholar, both from the Kentucky university.

Sponsored by the WWU Department of English and the Writing Instruction Support Program, the following sessions will take in the Wilson Library Reading Room:

  • 4 to 5 p.m.: a presentation-workshop about ways to respond to perceived errors in students’ writing
  • 5 to 6 p.m.: a more focused discussion of the concepts and theories of translingualism, the teaching of writing, and the politics of style.
