Lecture April 8 to focus on humanitarian work on North Korea

Learn what North Korea is really like at a Center for International Studies lecture April 8 from Bellingham resident Brad Howard.

Howard (not the WWU journalism associate professor of the same name) graduated from Oglethorpe University with a B.A. in international studies. He works as a volunteer for the US-DPRK Tuberculosis Project, and this past year he helped install water systems at two hospitals. This spring he will help build a training center at the National TB Prevention Hospital in Pyongyang. He will also participate in a conference on peace in Northeast Asia to be held in Japan.

In his lecture, Howard will talk about his humanitarian work in North Korea and give updates on recent developments in the country.

Howard's presentation is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, April 8, in Bond Hall Room 415 on the Western Washington University campus. This lecture is free and open to the public.

The Center for International Studies sponsors this lecture series so that Western faculty, staff, and students who have had significant international experiences can share the perspectives they have gained with the larger community.
