Kirk Myers of REI to speak at Western Feb. 28

The Associated Students club Net Impact will host a speech by REI’s corporate social responsibility manager Kirk Myers titled “Next Generation CSR: Integrating Sustainability to Thrive in a Resource-Constrained World” from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 in Academic Instructional Center West Room 204.

This event is free and open to the public. Myers will discuss his role at REI as he works with REI’s business partners with external stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable business strategies and tactics that drive efficiency, innovation and benefit the environment. Myers focuses on strategies that affect climate change, waste reduction, sustainable forestry, and green building.

REI focuses on getting people actively engaged in human-powered recreation and in environmental stewardship. The company is ranked No. 9 on Fortune magazine's “Top 100 Companies to Work For” and is one of five companies to make the list for 14 years in a row.
