WWU professor with wanderlust skirts danger in Afghanistan, Iraq

Peter Haug has quite the story to tell when people ask him what he did on his summer vacation. He visited three places low on most people’s list of must-see destinations: Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.

“People thought I was insane,” said the lanky and genial professor at Western Washington University.

Not so insane when you consider that Haug suffers from a severe case of wanderlust. He and an old college friend are engaged in a friendly rivalry about who can visit the most countries.
