WWU audit: Former economic development director violated ethics policies

A prominent former employee of Western Washington University was the subject of an internal audit that indicates he violated ethical policies as well as received about $2,000 in travel expenses for which he was not eligible.
Tom Dorr, the director of Western's Center for Economic Vitality until he resigned earlier this month, has been the focus of a special investigation by Western's Office of the Internal Auditor. The report, completed last week, determined that Dorr used his university position to "secure outside compensated work and a financial interest in an outside business and, further, he did not disclose nor gain approval for his outside compensated activities."
