What's in a name? Maybe some money; maybe some laughs

The idea of selling naming rights to places like Civic Stadium and Joe Martin Field came up at a meeting recently as one way to help repay a $3 million loan used to buy the Chuckanut Ridge property in south Bellingham.
When I heard about the idea, I scoffed. I figured that naming rights worth enough money to get excited about were limited to big cities like Seattle, home to the Seahawks' CenturyLink Field (formerly Qwest Field) and the Mariners' Safeco Field (despite Liberty Mutual Group's later acquisition of Safeco).
