Western's Northey wins national honor

Western Washington University's Megan Northey, a senior from Brier and a graduate of King's High School, is the recipient of the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Championship's Elite 89 award. 

The Elite 89, an award founded by the NCAA, honors student-athletes who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sports while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating in the finals for each of the NCAA's championships.
