Western student struck by car Tuesday, no life-threatening injuries

A 20-year-old Western student was struck by a car while crossing Bill McDonald Parkway near campus Tuesday evening, a Bellingham Police Department spokesperson confirmed.

While the officer on scene did not know how severe the student’s leg injury was, the victim was alert and talking at the hospital, Bellingham Police Department Lt. Danette Beckley said.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, on Bill McDonald Parkway near Birnam Wood.
