Western immune to government shutdown for now, says president

Reverberations from the shutdown of the federal government have been felt across the nation after Congress failed to pass a budget last Tuesday, Oct. 1. The National Parks Service, NASA and many other federal institutions have shut down or nearly shut down, but Western Washington University, a public university which receives federal funding, is up and running. The Western Front sat down with university President Bruce Shepard to discuss the continuing shutdown and its possible affects to the university and check in on what’s working and what isn’t at Western.
