UPDATE: One WWU student stabbed off-campus early Saturday

One Western Washington University student was stabbed after an altercation at 12:28 a.m. Saturday, May 21 on the 1100 block of Billy Frank Jr. Street. 

Officers were informed of a group of people attempting to restrain a person following an altercation, but the person got away before the police arrived, according to a May 24 report from Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy. 

The victim told police that he was attempting to stop an altercation when he was stabbed. 

He sought help at the Bellingham Fire Department, where he received EMT assistance. He was later taken to the PeaceHealth St Joseph hospital with a minor stab wound.
