Students pioneer Fairhaven Tunnel mural

A group of student volunteers, led by Western Washington University freshmen Ben Larson and Lynn Said, are painting a mural on the walls of the Fairhaven Tunnel.
The group believes creating a mural will deter taggers from spray painting illegal — and often profane — graffiti on what is now a blank space.
The school estimates spending more than $100,000 every five years to remove graffiti throughout campus, according to the University Police website.
