Shepard announces $60M fundraising campaign goal

An audible gasp was followed by an eruption of cheers, applause and blaring party horns from the audience as President Bruce Shepard announced that $48 million had already been raised for Western prior to the announcement of the university’s largest fundraising campaign ever.
The campaign, “Western Stands for Washington,” which was planned and prepared in secret for more than four years, was formally announced Friday, Oct. 25, at an announcement party with a goal of raising $60 million for Western students, faculty and scholarships.
