Police: Driver 'took off like a rocket' before crash by WWU

A high-speed police pursuit near Western Washington University lasted hardly a mile Friday evening, April 4, before the driver crashed into a tree in the median of Bill McDonald Parkway.

An officer tried to pull over a dark red Mercury Grand Marquis around 5:30 p.m. near Bill McDonald and Samish Way because the driver had been squealing the car's wheels and driving recklessly, said WWU Police Sgt. Ron Carpenter.
