PNNL to help develop STEM teaching program

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland will help with a National Science Foundation-funded project to develop programs in Washington state to prepare the next generation of science, technology, engineering and math teachers.

The foundation provided $3 million in grants to several college and university participants in the state and PNNL. The Richland lab will work with Western Washington University.

The Department of Energy national lab will receive $65,000 over four years to contribute insight into the role that computing and other STEM fields will play across all aspects of society in the future and an understanding of what that requires for STEM teachers and their students.

It will oversee the computer Science Integration Working Group and serve on the leadership team.
