Higher education magazine honors streamlined WWU business and tech systems

Western Washington University has been recognized by University Business magazine’s “Models of Efficiency” program, which spotlights innovation in higher education institutions that streamline their operations through technology or business improvements.
The university was honored for its accounting services department, which is now projecting $25,000 in annual savings through a new automated system to process journal vouchers that should eliminate paperwork and redundancies. WWU was also honored for its financial services department and its student bookstore, which together created a system allowing students to charge bookstore purchases to student accounts rather than personal credit cards. The switch is estimated to save the university up to $15,000 in annual credit card fees.
