Her recipe for success combined ‘the two greatest pleasures of the contemporary consumer, dining and shopping’

Dell Texmo blazed trails by instinct, drive, and simply by being who she was. She started a business when few women were entrepreneurs, and crafted it around the idea that customers could have their cheesecake and the cookbook, utensils and platters to bake and serve it, too. And she set that business in downtown St. John’s when many enterprises were fleeing to, or felled by, mall outlets.

Texmo, who died on March 27 in St. John’s of pancreatic cancer at 68, was researching a book on women in non-traditional occupations when she first thought about starting her own company.
