Fifteen minutes, tops, then we're out of here!

Who crosses the border at Point Roberts? The picture painted by a recent survey is overwhelmingly one of Canadians who come down for gas and mail, and they only stay on the Point for 15 minutes.

This year Point Roberts was included in the Whatcom Council of Governments (COG) and Western Washington University’s Border Policy Research Institute (BPRI) summer survey of travelers using the region’s five border crossings. “It’s now the fifth busiest port on the U.S./Canada border,” said COG senior planner Melissa Sanucci. “We thought it was important to include it.”
