Documenting the life of a north country artist: Romey to be remembered by grandson’s film

On a Saturday afternoon, the wind gently carries with it the smell of a long-awaited north country spring, but for Maxwell K. Romey, it marks the start of a lifelong journey into documenting the life of an artist, traveler and teacher, a person he knew as grandma.
A Potsdam native, Mr. Romey, 22, lives in Alaska and studies film at Western Washington University. He said he returned to the north country to begin work on cataloging the artwork of his late grandmother, Lucretia L. Romey, an accomplished artist who lived in the north country for about 20 years. She died in Orleans, Mass., in 2012.
