Despite the rain and snow, Northwest winter camping remains popular

It's wet. It's cold. It's dark. It's the season when most of us are snuggled up on the couch binge-watching our favorite shows.

But for some people, this is the prime season to get outside and go hiking and camping.

Michelle Altizer, a junior at Western Washington University and Bellevue native, is one of those people. She says her reason for getting outside is simple: she loves back country skiing, rock climbing, and mountaineering and won't let the weather get in her way.
