Brown and Elder set Western records at 29th annual Vernacchia meet

"Two Western Washington University men's school records fell Friday at the 29th annual Ralph Vernacchia Invitational Track and Field meet on Friday at Civic Stadium.

Ben Elder broke one of the oldest records on the Western books, as his toss of 168-4 to win the discus broke the mark of 161-2 set by Martin Rudy in 1980. Ryan Brown bettered his own school record by nearly a foot in the pole vault, clearing 16-10 3/4, and also set a meet record with that mark."
