Bill Wright, golf pioneer, tells of his story

"During my most recent visit to Los Angeles, I stopped in to see my friend Bill Wright to briefly discuss some of his past to present activities. William Wright was born in Kansas City, Mo., in 1936, the only child of Bob and Madeline Wright. Bill’s dad was a Postman and his mother was a Schoolteacher. When he was 12, the family moved to Portland and then on to Seattle, where Bill began playing golf introduced to him by his father. As his game improved throughout his junior years he was requited to attend Western Washington University Bellingham, WA for Basketball. The town of Bellingham would remind him and other blacks that Jim Crow was alive and well."
