Allen Foundation grant to train Lummi tribal entrepreneurs

A $300,000 grant from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation will help Lummi Nation train tribal members in starting small businesses.
"It's about creating pathways out of poverty," said Bill Vesneski, evaluations director for the foundation.
Many of the recipients of the training and small business support program are expected to be tribal artisans. Vesneski said the goal is to enable them to earn a living making and selling their arts and crafts at the tribe's own downtown CedarWorks Gallery and other locations.
