Information-gathering sessions to be held regarding gender-neutral facilities

As a part of Western Washington University’s commitment to creating and maintaining welcoming and inclusive learning and working environments for people of all gender identities on campus, the university has established an Ad Hoc Gender Neutral Facilities Guidelines Advisory Committee to draft proposed guidelines for the development of gender neutral facilities (restrooms and locker rooms) at WWU.

An important part of this process is gathering information from faculty, staff and students about their concerns, questions and experiences that will contribute to the formation of these guidelines. Information gathering sessions will be held as follows, and members of the university community are invited to attend the session for their respective constituency:

  • Faculty – 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in Miller Hall 138
  • Staff – 12:10 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Viking Union 464
  • Students – 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Viking Union 552

Questions may be directed to committee co-chairs Sue Guenter-Schlesinger, vice provost for Equal Opportunity and Employment Diversity and Title IX & ADA coordinator, and Rick Benner, director of Facilities Development and Capital Budget and university architect.
