In memoriam: Cary Chizer, 1947 - 2011

Cary Jul Chizer passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, after a brief illness.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1947, to Julius and Ella Mae Chizer in New Kensington, Penn. After moving to Bellingham, he graduated from Bellingham High School, where he excelled in all sports, especially football. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in Vietnam in the Airborne unit.

During his career, he worked for the city of Bellingham and Western Washington University before settling in at the Department of Social and Health Services, from which he retired in 2009.

On Sept. 10, 1988, he married Jenny Criscuola, and together they loved the adventure of road trips to the Oregon coast, one of his favorite places to go. Cary also loved sports and was an enthusiastic Husky football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his son, Chad Chizer Moses; sister Carmen Westman; brothers, Scott (Karen) Chizer, and Randy Chizer; nephews, Rob Westman, Jeryco Chizer and RJ Chizer; and nieces, Christy Goldsmith and Jessica Chizer.

Cary would be proud if memorials were made to Whatcom Hospice or the charity of your choice. You may share your thoughts and memories of Cary in the online guest book from Moles Funeral Homes.
