Huxley's Troy Abel selected for Aspen Environment Forum Scholars Program

Western Washington University assistant professor of Environmental Studies Troy Abel will be hosted by the Aspen Institute and National Geographic in their Scholars Program during the fourth annual Aspen Environment Forum from May 30 to June 2 in Aspen, Colo.

Abel will share insights from his co-authored book, “Coming Clean: Information Disclosure and Environmental Performance.” He will also discuss lessons from teaching an experimental course on Greening Business with Craig Dunn, WWU associate dean of Business and Economics, and findings from his wildlife conservation research across Cascadia funded by the Border Policy Research Institute.

The Aspen Environment Forum will convene 400 researchers, journalists, academics, entrepreneurs and students to explore and exchange ideas on energy, the environment and the economy; focusing on what we can do as citizens, corporations, and countries to address today’s environmental challenges.

The forum is designed to provide a critical framework for committed voices to probe the interconnectedness between the human and the natural world as part of the race to find out how we can transition past the challenges facing a sustainable future. This year, the forum will address a significant milestone; a global population of 7 billion and how to reconcile earth’s finite resources with its ability to sustain our expanding needs.
