Huxley speaker series continues Friday with presentation from Fertile Ground

Despite half a century of environmentalism, ecosystems around the world are in worse shape than ever before. Max Wilbert and Dillon Thomson will lead a discussion on the cutting-edge strategies being promoted by local non-profit Fertile Ground during a presentation from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 1, in Communications Facility Room 125 on the Western Washington University campus.

The presentation is part of the Huxley College of the Environment spring speaker series.

In their presentation, Wilbert and Thompson will combine political analysis with cultural theory, environmental science and a knowledge of historical social movements, laying a course for a new environmentalism that means to win.

Thomson and Wilbert are on the board of directors of Fertile Ground, which advocates for radical social organizing to reverse ecosystem collapse. Between them, they have studied public speaking, writing and organizing for more than 10 years while conducting extensive academic and personal research into climate change, species extinction, oceanic collapse and other environmental crises. They have shared their perspective in numerous media, including classroom presentations, radio and TV interviews, letters to the editor and community events.

These presentations are free and open to the public.
