Humans vs. Zombies to hold event in Viking Union Feb. 27

The Western Washington University Humans vs. Zombies Club will hold a special event in the Viking Union on Friday, Feb. 27. The Viking Union: Building Clear event is a single-night event in which the VU is full of zombies, and it’s up to teams of humans to “clear” the building, floor-by-floor.

The event is free for Western students and community members. It runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. that Friday night. Small teams of humans will be able to register together at the event. The Underground Coffeehouse (VU 350) will be open all night as the staging area, and snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Past experience with WWU HvZ week-long games, minigames or building clear events is not required for playing.

For safety reasons, the club urges players to only bring allowed Nerf blasters, and to stow them and additional gear on their way to and from the event. It will be after dark, making it easier for the gear and blasters to be misidentified by the public. The club operates in close coordination with campus administration and University Police. This collaboration establishes rules, gameplay restrictions, and the approval of Nerf blasters used in-game. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be voiced to moderators in person (wearing green armbands), or sent to the club email at wwuhumansvszombies@gmail.com.
