History's Jared Hardesty to speak at Village Books tonight

WWU Assistant Professor of History Jared Hardesty will speak at 7 p.m. tonight at Village Books in Fairhaven about his newest book, "Unfreedom: Slavery and Dependence in Eighteenth Century Boston."

"Unfreedom" examines the lived experience of slaves in eighteenth-century Boston. It argues slavery was part of a continuum of unfreedom and was one of many forms of oppression. In this hierarchical world, enslaved Bostonians pushed for autonomy, protected their families and communities, and demanded a place in society.
