'Guitars of Western in Concert' to be livestreamed May 25

Join us Tuesday May 25 at  8 p.m. for a concert of "Guitars at Western in Concert" from the PAC Concert Hall that will also be the farewell performance of retiring WWU Professor of Music David Feingold. This concert will be livestreamed and will open with Three Pieces from the Odhecaton. The Harmonius Musices Odhecaton is the earliest published manuscript of polyphonic music dating to 1501, Venice. Composers also featured include Albeniz, Hindemith, Bizet and Brouwer as well as Three Short South American Folksongs for guitar duo.

Two larger highlights include The Carmen Suite arranged by William Kannengeiser for the LAGQ, featuring a quartet of Western students. Leo Brouwer’s "Cuban Landscape with Rumba" will be performed in a guitar orchestral setting featuring the entire ensemble.

David Feingold is the founder of Western's Classical Guitar Studies program, and he joined the faculty in fall of 1980. To watch the live performance, go to https://cfpa.wwu.edu/livestream-music-concerts.
