Governor Inslee tours Western's Shannon Point Marine Center

Washington Governor Jay Inslee toured Western's Shannon Point Marine Center in Anacortes on Wednesday, accompanied by WWU President Sabah Randhawa, SPMC Director Brian Bingham, Huxley Dean Steve Hollenhorst, and faculty members David Shull (Environmental Science), Jackie Caplan-Auerbach (Geology), Brooke Love (Environmental Science), Shawn Arellano (SPMC marine scientist), Ginny Broadhurst (director of the Salish Sea Institute), and Sylvia Yang, director of WWU's SEA Discovery Center in Poulsbo.

The visit comes after the recent allocation by the state of $1.3 million for WWU's new undergraduate degree program in Marine, Coastal and Watershed Sciences, which will be largely based out of the SPMC facility.
