Free Employee Language Workshops to add class on Chinese language and culture

Registration is underway for the spring quarter Employee Language Program. The program is an initiative put forth by the President's Office to support Western faculty and staff through professional development and to encourage multicultural outreach and awareness. The workshops are the result of a combined effort by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, and Extended Education.

In addition to the Spanish workshops, a workshop in Basic Chinese Language and Culture is available for spring quarter.

There will be four levels of Spanish workshops and an additional session on Hispanic cultural studies. For workshop-level descriptions and recommended preparation, please visit the descriptions section on the program webpage.

Workshops will begin the second week of spring quarter, starting on April 7. A listing of offerings and times is available on the program home page.

Priority will be given to those interested participants who indicate a high need. Applicants should be sure to communicate with supervisors prior to registering for a workshop; for answers to additional questions, a FAQ page is available on the program website).
