Flags to be lowered Nov. 20 in memory of U.S. Army staff sergeant

Governor Chris Gregoire, in recognition of the death of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Matthew H. Stiltz, 26, of Spokane, has directed that Washington state and United States flags at all Washington state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory Tuesday, Nov. 20. He died Nov. 12 in Afghanistan of injuries he sustained when his unit was attacked by insurgents.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday, Nov. 20, or first thing Wednesday morning, Nov. 21.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
